HIT AND RUN RECORDS was launched in January 2009 with the release of 7" singles by Mary Gresham and Doris Allen. Another two singles are due out in May.

The label was formed to release limited-edition vinyl singles of vintage tracks, many of which are from our Soulscape catalogue. All singles are pressed in the USA and are only available by direct order from us.

We originally used the Hit and Run label to release deep soul singles in the UK in the late 1970s. After three releases, the label name was changed to Special Agent.

HR 1501

MARY GRESHAM

These tracks were cut in Muscle Shoals in the '70s but were unissued until March 2008 when they were featured on Mary's acclaimed album Voice From The Shadows (Soulscape SSCD 7008) and found instant popularity in soul clubs.

DORIS ALLEN

Underrated soul singer Doris Allen died just before her Soulscape album A Shell Of A Woman (SSCD 7012) was released in August 2008. These vintage tracks are popular with soul club and radio DJs.

BOBBY SHEEN

These two previously unissued tracks by veteran Bobby Sheen were recorded in Muscle Shoals in 1972. Advance reaction from DJs is already very strong.

THE TRUTHS INC

This single features two recently discovered tracks by an obscure soul harmony group who recorded these "long lost" masters at Playground Studios in Valparaiso, Florida, in 1973.
